Sponsored by Dr John Sentamu and dressed in ecclesiastic purple, the team at Bishopthorpe Palace will all be running for their colleague Alison Easson who is currently undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer. Alison, who works in Accounts, said:

"I was really surprised that the whole team will be running Race for Life. Everyone has been really supportive. I have been really touched and overwhelmed. I want to thank my colleagues very much".

Mrs Chris Barrick, a seasoned veteran of the Race for Life organised the Purple Power team. Chris said:

"We are all looking forward to completing the course and raising funds for Cancer Research UK. Having entered the race previously and knowing Alison, it seemed an ideal opportunity to get the team together"

Race for Life is the UK's biggest women only fundraising event; raising almost £100million for Cancer Research UK and welcoming over two million to its events.
