Tuesday 11 July 2006

The Archbishop of York, the Most Reverend & Right Honourable Dr John Sentamu, has made two new appointments to complete his team at Bishopthorpe.

Archbishop of York

The Reverend Canon Robert Paterson takes up the post of Chaplain & Researcher on 17 July and Mr Arun Arora becomes Communications Adviser on 9 August.

Robert Paterson has spent most of his ministry in the Church in Wales: since 2000 as Principal Officer of the Council for Mission & Ministry. He will continue his work as Vice-Chair of the Anglican Primates' Working Group 'Theological Education for the Anglican Communion'. He is married to Pauline and they have three adult children.

Arun Arora has just gained a first class honours degree in theology and ministry at the University of Durham, having previously qualified and practised as a solicitor. He was the Birmingham Diocesan Director of Communications for four years. Arun marries the Revd Jo Logan in July and will live in Harrogate.

Archbishop Sentamu says, "This is a strong and cohesive group of Christian colleagues, who will form an excellent team. They were worth waiting for."
